GLOVERSVILLE -- A teenager who was hospitalized with symptoms associated with meningococcal meningitis has tested negative for the disease, doctors said.

State and Fulton County officials had been investigating whether Jake Lillie of Johnstown had the rare and sometimes contagious bacterial infection. The disease affects the bloodstream and the meninges, the lining that covers the brain and spinal cord.
